how do.

i'm about ready to paint my '24 but theres no way the budget will stretch to a professional job so looks like i'll be doing it myself.
all the panels are in primer and i've found some decent (i think) rattle cans on fleabay:

my daft question is: how many of these 150ml cans will i need to do all the panels on my '24?
(wheels are different colour, i'm guessing 4 cans for those?)

Best going to Halfrauds and getting them to make some up for you,go for the bigger size can aswell,they'll have the proper nozzles which you can adjust albeit limited adjustment

halfrauds would be ok if i wasnt on a budget. a budget of sod all.
ideally i would like some ford diamond white but i'll have to see what i can get. is the difference in quality of spray worth the extra?

and yes, i realised after i posted just how little 150ml is...

should be starting the respray tomoro after i get the fence up to stop the dog killing the lawn which in turn will get the mrs off my back. for a short while at least lol.

I use about six 320 g cans to do a whole bike (albeit a track bike where every 320 g counts!). I'd budget anywhere up to 10 (320 g) for the bike and 3 (320 g) for both wheels - depending on how many coats, rub backs, quality you want, etc. That equates to anywhere up to 28 x 150 ml cans! Maybe try and find some full size cans!

Yup, the bigger the can the better.

Paint temperature & consistency will affect the finished quality, and will be easier to be consistent with bigger cans.

I've found it wise to go for cans from a mainstream brand so that you can buy a replacement colour easily in the future for patch up jobs. Mixing paint manufacturers of the same colour code won't guarantee a good colour match.

You can get a super finish with rattle cans, there have been a few good posts on how to achieve this in various threads. Panel prep is paramount to a good paint finish (rub them down with Prepsol prior to painting and let it dry properly), so also is rubbing down with wet and dry between early coats.

It also helps the paint dispersion to warm up the cans before painting by placing them in a bucket of warm-hot water for 30 minutes and shaking them occasionally. Oh, and take your time! Sorry if this is all basic advice.
