nc30 strange starting problem.
Thought id go out on my bike today as it was gorgeous weather. I put the key in the ignition turned it on oil light and neutral illuminated as normal. switched the fuel and choke and went to start it. Totally dead wouldnt even turn, ignition lights didnt dim and stayed illuminated. I tried 3-4 times nothing then tried again suddenly she fired up with ease and started first time. What do you reckon dodgy switch? Bad earth??

No, neutral no clutch. Definately not the battery just checked that. Just wondered if it had anything to do with it being left outside and it being very cold last night?

Re: nc30 strange starting problem.
Did you get a click from the solenoid?
Random man.
I just spent all day wanting to beat my race bike up as it failed to start this morning and thought it would be funny to pee fuel all into the oil overnight.
swapped carbs, swapped plugs - over and over...got it fired up at 1500...when I should have been on Mallory giving it wigan!
bloody old bikes... my wife thinks I should get a new one...

No click from the solenoid, completely silent. Really weird it was like the button wasnt working, then it just kinda burst into life!!
Yeah i know what you mean, it just in the process of moving so my bikes are outside at the moment i cant wait to move so i can get them in the garage and actually do some work on them!!
I wish my wife told me to get a new bike, bloody hell id be out the door like a shot!!!

Re: nc30 strange starting problem.
I had a similar issue a couple of times. Once it went away when i tightened the battery terminals and the other time it seemed to be the diode on the starter circuit. Its a little black rectangle thing somewhere in the loom and seems to control whether the bike will start in gear with the clutch pulled in and stuff like that.
Too many bikes, so little time!

on the NC23 triarm its under the rear fairings somewhere. No idea where it is on the NC30. Probably in a similar place though. Its in the main bit of the loom.
