Nc30 valve shim advice
Hi,
I've been checking me shims tonight on me nc30 and the two of the front exhaust valve clearence is to tight, the gap ( for both) is too tight for a 0.20 feeler and a 0.15 one is a nice sliding fit. Just wondered how much you'd reduce the shims buy to get the correct gap, ie go for a .05 reduction or maybe 0.10, tho would this be a bit big?
Many thanks.
Ian

Re: Nc30 valve shim advice
Shims come in 0.05 increments.
Measure the shims that are in there to start with and note these down.
Drawing the engine help :-)
Once you've measured all your shims and clearances you can work out how many you need to change.. ie if you have a 3.00 shim in there and you gap is too small, putting a smaller shim in will increase your gap.. 2.95 is the next size down which will give you a 0.05mm larger clearance.
Best thing to do first is measure all the shims and the clearances.. then see which ones need changing and what shims are already in there.
I did this with my ZXR and needed 10 shims! :/
However, after seeing the sizes of the 10 I was replacin I realised I could put 5 of them back in different places so only had to order 5 new ones :-)

Re: Nc30 valve shim advice
i have a excel calculator if you want it. just add in the gap old shim sizes and it will tell you the new shim size and it has all the shim sizes listed so you just pick the closest
