cbr600 wheel conversion

hey guys has anybody done a cbr600 "98" wheel conversion .As far as i can tell from a few quick measurements the sprocket carrier needs to be moved in and the rotor out . any help would be gratefull

Are you talking about rear or front, which cbr600 model do you mean?

For the front I think it's possible, but you need different spacers and and brake disk is bigger - 310mm, compare with 296mm on NC29. Som brake disk wouldn;t fit and required to mod for calipers or disk.

As for the rear - it's defenittely not fit due to swingarm and need to be replaced with swingarm as well, like on picture below.

Maybe in future will do such things with rear, for the current moment I have change full front enf to cbr600rr07.

Some of the Aussie racers have fitted a 5.5 inch blade rear, maybe one of them will post up how to do it.

No easy answer, lots od creative machininv of the sprocket carrier and hub to match the nc29 offset. Doesn't require different swingarm as parus suggests.

Highly illegal under aus racing regs for 400s.

Have you got a picture ? Due to my experience it's too wide to fit into NC29 swingarm.

ive tried fitting before a R6 rear tire and mags, but the chain touches the side of the tire.

Surely the chain will touches too from a 600Cbr tire.

Its easy to put spacers on the rear sprocket to make it offset, and probably few mods on the brake mount.

But is it necessary to offset the front sprocket coz i think the chain will somehow not perpedicular???

You defenitelly have to start doing this, becase as you can see - sometime it's very usefull ;)

Really, I was quickly check cbr600rr rear wheel before - not in detail of course, but as you mentioned above - too many modification and I ever not sure chain will not touch swingarm. So, from my point of view, it'll be easy to change completelly full swingarm ( and sell cbr400 swingrm somebody who owns cb-1 for conversion) - it's almost bolt-on. We did it on HORNET and fit cbr600rr swingarm. Really easy thing.

Thanks guys .Your right greggo it can be done i just tried my mates wheel in there ,way to much work lots of machining.not just a couple of spacers ,sprocket carrier has to be machined down and spacer for rotor not worth the trouble maybe.and also illegal like you said not that that would stop or stops alot of people

It is worth it. Sticka 5inch in there and you will be putting your tyres on a rim that is the correct size, rather than squeezing them on a rim 1/2 inch too small. The 160 section tyre is designed for a 5incher. Ie CBR600.

IMHO 5.5 inches is over tyred. You wouldn't put a 180 section tyre on a 400 today, why would you put it on one built years ago.
