Inlet Rubbers

So I got a can of easy start and sprayed it round the intake rubbers on the carb and waddaya know the revs shoot up. So I am thinking I need a new set of carb rubbers.

Dave Silver do them, but are they all the same size for each cylinder? I seem to remember someone on here saying the front two cylinders and back two had different size inlet rubbers - is that true?

There all the same between the NC30 / NC24

You need 4 of them

Fantastic chaps.

So I know they are supposed to be air tight and that this is going to sound really dumb but is it also supposed to be fluid tight as I really doused where the carb sits inside the inlet rubber and so it might have run down the visible part of the carb and into the intake rubbers. I know they are supposed to be air tight but if fluid runs down should it be able to get inside or should get be everything tight? I am guessing if they're s'posed to be airtight that means nothing fluid or whatever should be able to get it?

Where would I get a new set of 8 of the jubilee intake clips from? Does Silver do those?

Deviant, old chum, did you notice any difference in performance when you fitted ya new rubbers? How fecked were your old ones? How easy was it to get the carbs to seat with the enw rubbers?

The clips that you need from Dave Silver are part number 16219-KE7-010 and cost a whopping £4.22 each. You cant use standard jubilee clips as they are too wide

They are all the same and you will need 8 of them, the rubbers are only £5.00 each and again they're all the same

Jesus... so nearly £40 worth of clips? Thanks for the part no btw polisher. Might have to wait til next week to get some of those or just use my old ones. Is it preferably to get new clips too with a new set of rubbers?

yeah i noticed a big diffrence , my carbs have been on an off more times than a whores knickers in the last few months and were getting reaally hard to get back on as the lips was splitting and cracking :lol: , the last time the bike was running with the old ones the revs started hanging badly when the bike warmed up and showed signs of a classic air leak, i got some new rubbers while i did me shims , , putting the new rubbers on was ok clamped them good and tight to the cylinders first, then front carbs in, and flat head screwdriver to prise open the rears a bit as i pushed the rears in with no probs , bike runs as it should now

personally I would clean the original clips up and re use them. No ones ever going to see them. Just put a bit of grease on the threads so that you can get them on and off easily later

Deviant - very descriptive, mate. LOL'd at the whores knickers bit. Well I have ordered me some rubbers up so hopefully I'll be able to notice a diff too. I know they have split a bit where the small cut out gap is at the top edge of the back two rubbers as when I put a flatheaded screwdriver in there to pry the rubbers back to seat the rear two carbs I can see slight splits.

Polisher- might grab me four clips to replace the top set. the screws on the ones I have are a bit mashed up form trying to get them tight to stop the air leak. Although not sure I will yet. Downloaded a few manuals from that site though. Good post.

If you were on a budge you could try a light smear of silicone around the base of the carbs before fitting, should help to seal any minor leaks.
