NC29 Engine number

Whereabouts on an NC29 is the engine number located? I've had a good look round the back of the engine but can't see it.

Hard to see, it goes across the engine right to left, near the clutch arm on the right side, under the frame etc. Should begin with NC23

Is it possible to read it without removing the tank?
