Sp1 opinions

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on the sp1.
Came across a pretty decent looking model for a good price and it sparked my interest.
Have driven everything from 125's to 1000's, older and new, but haven't tried a big v-twin.
Don't really drive that much anymore, the rvf will remain, as its had my blood, sweat and tears
put into getting it to where it is. Probably leave the rvf at home and put the sp1 in the city
where i work for the odd evening spin.

Is it worth picking up for casual use or would i be better off just leaving it?

Leaves it open to wide opinion, any appreciated.

In short, get one & enjoy...they're great bikes

Long version....I had one for 2 1/2 years (longer than I've owned any other bike) and loved it and will probably get another at some point in the next few years (probably an SP2) as they're a nice change from a revvy 4 without having to resort down the Italian route. They might not have the sort of bhp figures of more modern 1000's 4's & twins, but I'm off the opinion 125-130bhp is enough for anyone on the road unless your the type to battle gixxer thou's at post 130mph speeds

Just find a nice one, ideally with a power commander fitted (helps smooth slightly jerky throttle at low speeds) and a decent aftermarket rear shock would be useful too as the ride on an SP1 is fairly hard on bumpy roads but pays off on smooth tarmac and thats just how I like my bikes so I never bothered

I had one a few years back. Great fun, good power, good speed, loads of torque, nice sound with the Moriwaki exhaust I had on it. Typical high quality Honda fit and finish. Did a few trackdays with it and we had a nickname for it........."fat wallory pig". :D (In street trim that is.) But for a street bike it would be a nice bike. Easy to ride on the street, not as much manical shifting like on a inline 4, just twist and go, any gear, any corner. Good ergo's, broad and flat seat, but if you have a RVF you are used to that by now. Sort of like a Honda version of a Ducati, ie: V-TWIN. If you can get a nice one for a good price, then jump on it.

I believe the SP can be described as

the only big bike I would consider owning myself bar an RC45.

Never owned one but want one.

They are lovely bikes. Had a sit and rev on a guy form the old forum's bike.....cannot recall his name....yet...Buzz? Had the OKI rep bike at the Cadwell 400 meeting.....

Anywas..they have a quality to them in the flesh that Milles the like do not have.
