Re: Pic of wiring loom run on RVF wanted
1080 x 865 max file size, it will parse each one to check it doesnt breach and also to thumbnail in the post. i bet it did time out struggling to download as each time i load this post it takes an age (and i am on either a 30mb/100 bearer pipe here or 16mb dsl at home)
number of attachments is limited by your account type, max is 8 but that feature i have disabled anyway because of the theme (another coding issue)
as for displaying an error, tbh thats dandy, but if it doesnt do it by default then frankly i aint going to lose sleep over it.
I guess the page just timed out when trying to post, if it failed to return an error then that i suspect my friend is an issue with the nuts and bolts of phpbb.
if a problem occurs with IIS then IIS will show the error, likewise for perl or php engine, but if nothing for posting then my moneys on phpbb.
room in the market then for a new forum that doesnt time out or waste peoples time ? go for it get one written pls.

Which is fine but then don't complain when people put comments such as "bloody forum keeps timing out"CRM wrote:as for displaying an error, tbh thats dandy, but if it doesnt do it by default then frankly i aint going to lose sleep over it.

well dont moan about wasting your time. go waste it elsewhere if you dont like it. its only a forum.
edited - actually just to follow on this, its moving to a new dedicated server in the next couple of weeks. i do expect slightly better performance once its moved as it will be on the end of a 100mb pipe with no limit on bandwidth. however it will still depend on the pipe at the other end where pics are hosted to check against sizes / thumbnailing.
i reckon site supporters could be allocated some space to put thier own pics locally that might be a go-er.
anyway i will add more info to the site section as and when

Re: Pic of wiring loom run on RVF wanted
Ive had this happen quite a lot when posting pics, ive learnt now to copy the whole post before i submit, then if it spits its dummy out i just paste the post again and split the pics into 2 posts. saves having to retype the whole post.
