Few Nc30 questions

Post by matt_nc30 »

hi, was wondering if anyone could tell me how hot the reg/rec gets while the bike is running. I have recently rebuilt the bike and had the bike running for the fist time over the week end. It was running for about 2 minutes and by then the reg was almost too hot to touch. I dont think its the standard honda one.

also noticed when putting the back end of the bike back to gether that one of the roller bearings on the shock linkage had completely siezed (where the shock bolts on)

is this a common fault? and has any one got a spare thats laying around i could buy?

oh and, has any one had a prob with a tyga system touching the shock?

thanks matt

The Tyga system clears everything, comes close near the chain, and only say 3-5mm away from the shock, but nothing should touch or 'bottom out'.

The reg rec on my bikes gets too hot to touch...so think that is normal.

I have had systems also touching the linkages when the suspension is unloaded so also nothing to worry too much about unless you do a lot of jumping.. :o

the linkages are just bushes on the 30 - I think. Take it out and you can op the centres out, relube and stick it back in.

I assume you mean the triangle linkage rather than the dog bone?

While it's all off, swap it for a 35 item.

Yeah the triangle alloy part, 2 of the rollers work and turn smoothly, (where it bolts to swingarm and dog bone) but the one where the shock bolts on wont move and looks slighlty bent, if i tighten the nut that holds the shock on as tight as its meant to be it wont move.

have had my 30 link welded and drilled for a raise ;)

That is correct. I made exactly the same mistake and went as far as ordering new bearings before realising I had an NC30 triangle (in an NC35).

The NC35 has three bearings, the NC30 has two and a bush. Incidentally you're meant to tighten up the shock onto the triangle so that the bush is not under stress in the normal position. As you can imagine this is a bit tricky.

An NC35 triangle mounts straight on and is much easier (and possibly better too).

I thought that Rick Oliver had roller bearings for the nc30 link available as a replacement for the bush, but I can't see them on his stock list.

Maybe send him a PM, he'll sort you out quick smart.
