Well after "borrowing" a socket from work and converting it into a castleated socket ive managed to remove the engine

Image

Removed the cover to assess whats involved with checking the valve clearances.

Image

After eventually getting my head round the measurements i removed the cams to swop some of the shims over. All done...

Ive bought some alloy cleaner and the new jet washer is on its way. This all kinda reminds me of starting from square one again!!!!!!
So once the jet wash turns up, i will be giving the frame a good seeing to...

Cleaned up the frame as best as i could, might go for the black powder coat route next year though.
The Maxton shock ive bought measured 305mm, but chatting to a couple of the gurus off here it would be 10mm too long of its optimum. Lucky it was an adjustable length one, with a lock nut that once removed shortened the shock to 295mm.
Also fitted the G France later spec/refreshed forks i have just bought, then slotted in the front wheel with the EBC discs and the back wheel complete with newly swopped 520/42t sprocket.
So along with the standard clip ons(would love some race ali ones) and sub frame ive got me a rolling chassis.

With the engine work i wanted to do complete, i decided to slot the engine back in. Did it in 3 simple steps......

Engine under bike tilting the rear up so the rear bolt holes line up, then slid in the bolt and placed the nut on loosely.

Image

Reached through the frame, lifted up the front of engine which was nice and easy as the back bolt acts as a pivot. Kicked the tool box under sump which is just about right to bring the other bolt holes in line.

Image

Fitted top middle bolts(crash bungs) loosely, which then allows easy fitment of all the other bolts.

Image

Just got to get a couple of new front bolts as the others sheared off, then i will torque them all up.
