Stalling problem

Post by Chaosfruitbat »

I would love some advice please. My nc30 keeps stalling when i pull up at junctions and i dont know where to start. The idle is lumpy and it sometimes dies when its on choke.

Try twisting the choke cable clockwise towards the bike a bit at a time so it sounds like it's running more but not over doing it.(Gets louder and the rev counter will increase).Hope this helps.

Stalling when you pull up with a choppy idle is classic symptoms of the bike running too rich.

Is the exhaust end black / sooty?

Make sure your choke is going full off (ie the levers it pulls out are going back into the carbs)

if they are try turning your pilot screws in half a turn

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. Rode down the road for petrol this morning and it stalled when i went to pull away and would not start at all. Off to get new plugs but while i take the long stroll into fleet, any more advice?

It still sound too rich!

Put some new plugs in and see if it's still running rich (ie sooty exhaust)

Check your air filters not blocked up and your chokes releasing fully. (these will both cause a rich mixture)

Once you've checked all of the above, turn the pilots in half a turn and try it again (will lean it out)

Make sure you check the air-filter first (simple stuff first!) If it's black as coal that'll most likely be your problem.. :D
