Injected VFR/RVF. Possible ?

Post by PARUS »

Guys,

I'm thinking about injection of my CBR400RR. Maybe you know somebody who do this for VFR or RVF ?
Send me PM. Will be appreciate for any information.

Mounting the throttle bodies on an inline 4 is a lot simpler than on a V4:

Tricky but doable.

Main issue really is finding suitable throttle bodies, for things like the RC30 durbahn for example used '99 GSXR750 throttle bodies. Now it seems like he's working on a RVF400 :-)

On a rather lower budget you could try and find an EFI bike with around the same size throttle bodies, buy second hand and match to a megasquirt.

I think it is possible.
Most of the work is wireing and to find all plugs and all parts for it to make the rest.
The next decision is which ecu do you want to use. You can get cheap systems like KMS or an expensive one, motec M400 or M800. Do you want
an injection with camshaftsensor or without.
With the camshaft sensor you can control each injector individually without it, you'll control the engine like a carbureted engine. Always 2 cylinders at the same time.

I decided to build it with camshaft sesor. Next you need airtemp sensor, air pressure sensor (Map sensor), lambda probe? is it right?. Water temp, oil pressure, fuel pump and finally the fuel injectors.

I got my bodies from Jenvey UK, 34mm. ECU = Motec M400.

Yes, but nobody do the set for inline 4 CBR400.

The main question for now the suitable throttle bodies and how to fit camshaft sensor. Crank sensor also need to be changed to accuracy of crank position. Could you show how did you fit camshaft sensor ?

Yes, but nobody do the set for inline 4 CBR400.
Honda itself does some that will bolt straight onto an nc29 on the EFI CB400 Revo. ;)

Yes difficult to find, but if you have a contact in Japan they should be able to get hold of a set fairly easily from a breakers.

There is some video of RC30 injection with Motec400. I think this done by Durban, but not sure.

Hello Parus, what problems are you having with the camshaft sensor? If you have one I have a head and cam cover here I could perhaps modify for you.
