Rite plastigauge is on order.

Come up against a bit of a problem. I'm trying to take the clutch off but it won't budge. I have got to the lock nut (that you have to make a special tool for) and i'm stuck. Now i have removed all of the lip on the nut and where the lip was punched there is nothing in the way. I put the primary drive sproket back on and have managed to clog the sproket on the clutch up to stop it from moving. As i am trying to undo the nut the whole spindel with the onternal sprokets on is moving round bue the clutch is not budging. So in short the clutch aint moving but the shaft is. I know this prob aint good so anyone got any ideas..

Well, how does the clutch work, and which parts are connected in which way? (think about it and you will have the answer..., clue, the center shaft is solidly connected to the gearbox and only connected by the clutchplates to the primary gear/clutchbasket).

Or for a less cryptic answer, put the engine in 6th and apply the rear brake.

Should you have the engine out of the frame (in your case) put the engine in 6th and hold the drive sprocket with a 'universal' holder ;)

or if you dont like straining the whole drive sytem locking it up , if your engine is out of the frame take it to any garage and get them to use air impact gun to whizz it off. I use my electric gun and it works a treat

Or theres that way... :)

The Honda service manual suggests the way I mentioned so I doubt the strain is too bad.

Besides, pulling away in 1st gear with 10+ stone and the weight of the bike is probabyl a lot of strain on the drive system too :-)

Either way it'll come off! :D

Just a quick update got the engine apart and turns out when the con rod snapped it also took out a chunk of the engine block and have been advised there is no point trying to carry on putting it back together and if I did it would just blow up again. So soon I will be in the Market for a tidy rvf engine . Thanks for everyones help.

Well a couple of quid per valve maybe. Got to try the ground like in the advert we need to barter more!
