Fault diagnosis
Hi guys, long time no post.
I've done something stupid and bid on an nc30 on ebay
. The seller says she's got a problem with stopping running after 45 mins or so.
Does anyone have any experience with this kind of fault, and does it sound like an accurate diagnosis?
this is what the feller says about it:
"SHE STARTS AND RUNS BUT AFTER ABOUT 45-60 MINS OF DRIVING HER SHE WILL CUT OUT AND YOU HAVE TO START HER AGAIN I RANG THE GARAGE FOR ADVICE AND THE MECHINCE SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD EARTH AND SAID TO CLEAN THE EARTH CONNECTION I WOULD NOT KNOW WERE TO START... SHE COMES WITH A VIPER END CAN ON HER."
Cheers, Mike.

Re: Fault diagnosis
That is not stupid..it is clever...becuae it comes witha can on it so all is well
Get your hands on it, perform a full electrical survey on it...you'll prob find a poorly charging battery that discharges as you ride leaving it fooked..
unless the tank only holds 5 litres.....

For electrical probs, start with this step by step fault finding guide

Re: Fault diagnosis
Could be a blocked breather hose from the fuel tank too causing it to starve of fuel etc.
Shouldn't be too difficult to fix :D

i bet either trapped hose, goosed breather and will likely get a "whoop" noise or hear air getting sucked in when you open the cap once its conked out.
been there, done that

Re: Fault diagnosis
Had a look at the auction too.
Not too bad... little bit of work needed on the plastics, the end-can straightening up etc etc.
The seller mentions a new battery last month.. if the old one was dead it could be reg-rec problems (very common!) so may well be an electrical fault.
Either problem isn't too hard to fix :)
Good luck with the auction
