The only upside to getting old :(
124 fully comp, other bikes + breakdown. 0 ncb but 0 claims etc.
I do have an extensive collection of points which will make my (self-bought) birthday present of an srad gxr/ tasty nc30 in august interesting.
Formerly RacingSlug. Felt like a change and it came down to either Biscuits, Ben10 (possible copyright issues) or NinjaSmokeWarrior. The wife suggested TwatMan.

CMSMJ1:
Insurance is not required by law here. If it was there would be a lot less people on the road... hey, thats a damn good idea, they should make it compulsory :)

"What if you damage someone's property" If people wanna protect their shit they get full cover insurance.

A lot of people get 3rd party fire and theft insurance. (much cheaper than full cover) I've been considering it, just haven't gotten around to it.

The taxi thing has improved. New legislation has required all the old taxis to be phased out and now the taxis are much bigger and can fit more people etc. (though its slightly worrying because now instead of 2 ton taxis driving around with retard unlicensed drivers, its like 3-4 ton taxis driving around with hopefully more qualified drivers)
The DOT and police have been cracking down on them, so hopefully its improving.

Dunno what you talking about not getting about without a shooting or ass kicking. People get around all the time every day without it. Your street smarts do affect your odds a lot. I've never had any issues. I know a lot of people who have though. You can get mugged in any country. If you're a soft target you're likely to get mugged nomatter what country you're in.

>"Why aren't people sensible...!! It is a lovely place and deserves much better*"
This is Africa, you gotta live in the moment. Theres something really nice about the immediacy of it. Resign your fears and just live. If you can't handle that you won't be happy here.
Every place has its advantages and disadvantages. The crime adds an extra stress in the back of your mind, but the place, the people & the freedom feed your soul. So its + a bit here, - a bit there. You gotta figure out of the net is something you like.

Alex: There is a road accident fund that pays for stuff where people don't have insurance. i think its a tax on petrol. (kind of sucky) They pay out a lot of shit, but I doubt they have enough to cover everything.

Best thing you can do is, keep away from cars, and don't crash.

Sounds like SA might be similar to Australia: compulsary 3rd party (the government pays) but if you want more cover, you have to pay through your teeth. All in all though, it aint that expensive unless you're under 25.

That's the beauty of track bikes: you crash, you pay. Too easy!
