I've haven't been very active on the forum for a while, but have recently found some time to spend with my fellow 400GBers. So, here's some pics of my race NC30. It's been through many guises over the last 5 or so years, but it's finally where I want it to be. It's currently being prepped for a race, so not entirely together. I'll post some more pics in the upcoming weeks as I prep it.

I drool over the bling I see on 400GB, but my bikes have never been about that - pure functionality and performance for me thanks. I learnt that pretty quickly after my early naughties anodised fetish! :oops: You won't see any of that here!

First up, my pride and joy: HRC carb set-up with all the bells and whistles. I run a cut-down HRC airtray which you can just make out at the front of the carbs. Pulls super-hard and haven't noticed any difference between the full tray and what I run - even in 40 degree temps. I'll list my carb specs when I can remember what I'm running at the moment - they're due for a drain and check. Also fitted is a 'light weight' cable tie to hold the NC21 throttle cable bracket in place - works well too!

Next up is my mongrel exhaust. I was running a borrowed Laser system, but Cammo rudely took that back for his 'roady' project. So I had an Ethos half system lying around, but it had no final section. Tyga came to the rescue with a section from their exhaust. Fits pretty well with some minor mods to spring mounts (a keen eye will spot my no frills fix for that!).

And lastly (for now) is my recently fitted 'Pril RS250 dash. I used to run a cut down standard assembly, but had a dud 'Pril dash sitting in the garage. I fitted the standard NC30 tacho and a digital temp gauge. Cleans the front up nicely and saves loads of weight (after I took an angle grinder to it). Doesn't look 'street cool' but I think it sums up the bike: all business.

Thanks Michael - I know! It took me years to source all the parts from Japan. It is fun trying to find the elusive (and expensive!) parts though.

If you look in that pic, you can see that one of the screws worked loose the last time I was at the track, and they were impact driven in! Since that could have been absolutely catastrophic, I've decided to fit the standard tabbed washer thingies again. I could locktite them, but I won't be taking any chances.

I'd still like a carbon airtray (for no good reason) as I have the airtray mould and loads of carbon/kevlar (but alas, no time). I think I've spent more time and effort on the carbs than any other aspect of the bike. Great once you get them sorted!

Been fettling with the carbs for a race next week, so thought I'd stick up the spec before I forget again. The carbs are performing very well, which is less than I can say for the electrical system at the moment :down:

Specs:

NC30 carbs
Half an HRC rep air-tray (easy carb fitting/removal), no airbox or filter
HRC'd carb bracket
HRC velocity stacks
NC21/24 slides (equivelent to HRC rounded slides, but most likely the same part)
HRC SP 8ZG needles all round
0.5 mm of washers under needles all round
140 main jets all round
40 pilot jets all round
Pilot screws set 1.5 turns out
NC21 cable holder with custom cable tie fastening system - I know :roll:
QR fuel fittings (for HRC tap mod)

Now I know where to look when I forget my settings next time 8-)

And now, standard brass washer thingies on the carb bracket to prevent the engine from inhaling bolts - not easy to fit without obstructing the velocity stacks. I may have to produce something a bit more elegant. And thought I'd also fit one of the bolts that holds the carbs to each other (!) lost somewhere in the vee :roll:

Well, the bike went hard and no (very few) problems at last weekends races at Winton. Awesome racing action and a few great battles for place. This is one of the few fully dressed pics in existence, so here it is:
