3TJ Front Wheel Bearings
Can anyone please confirm the front wheel bearing size for a front wheel on a 3TJ
I have not removed the bearings yet
I have some bearings I was given by the person I bought the bike from but have found that a one for the back wheel to be wrong
I have a bearing that I think will fit the front.
I/D is 16.90
O/D is 40.00 and 11.90 thick
and are they the same both sides
Hope you can help

Re: 3TJ Front Wheel Bearings
Big hammer and a drift is the prefferred method
Take the speedo drive and everything out placing it on the spindle so you know the order it came off in.
Lever the dust seals out with a screwdriver put them on the spindle but you'll discard them later.
Put the drift in and knock the inner tube between the bearings sideways so you can get the drift onto the bearing then work around the bearing. When one sides out you can take the tube out which makes the other side easier. When you drift the new ones in put them in the freezer for a while. Cover the first with a piece of wood and drift it evenly, hitting at 12, 6, 3 and 9 o'clock until it locates on the lip. Put enough but not to much high melting temp grease in the bearing.
REMEMBER TO PUT THE TUBE IN.
Then repeat for the other side finish by locating the tube properly.
You need new dust seals.

No you don't. If they're not damaged then there's nowt wrong with re-using them.Evilchicken0 wrote:You need new dust seals.

Re: 3TJ Front Wheel Bearings
before you hit these bearings out, flick the dust out with a flat blade screwdriver,
heat the wheel around the bearing area with a hot air gun, don't burn the paint, when
you feel it's hot enough put a drift in and tap the bearing at the same time moving the bar in a circular motion the bearing will fall out with ease,no replacing the bearings
again heat the wheel, cold bearings they will drop in.replace dust seals job done.

Just go out & buy the tools much quicker, I fit em within 5mins...
The bearing drivers are a good bit of kit burt pricey and saves your paint work...
