Hey folks, i seem to have a problem with my dip beam lights.
I very often ride to work and back in the dark through town, so only using dip beams.
My problem is that sometimes my lights appear to dip even further than they should...then get brighter all of a sudden, but not to full beam...just normal dip beam.
I did have a problem with my rectifier a while ago, and back then i thought that was the problem. But it's been sorted for a while. I checked all of my fuses, nothing wrong there.
Full beam appears to work fine, but i've not been out anywhere in a while in the dark to check them.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a voltage regulation problem.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Re: nc30 lights dipping up and down
looked through the Haynes manual (page 9.5 section 6) and it's pointing me to the relay switch. Apparently it should click?
Edit: it appears to be clicking.
BUT...the bike seems to have been converted to the uk spec relay. i suppose for a brighter dip beam?

Re: nc30 lights dipping up and down
The original spec would have been 35/35w bulbs, UK spec is 55/60w. That will be why a relay has been installed.
Sounds like the reg/rec could be failing. Is it an OE spec NC30 one? You may be better off replacing it with an 03-05 R6 reg/reg.

I assume it's an original one. not really paid much attention to it tbh.
will need to look into it further before i just go and buy a new one.

geebus i have a spare o/e rectifier you can have for free if you pm me to arrange collection or can post it to you . would allow you to see if thats the cause of your problem. in any case as thunderace said best option is getting a 5 pin yamaha regulator .
