end to end its about as wide as a 10pence peice. its probably nothing, its just being left with that after taking apart my linkage scared me slightly.

It isn't part of the linkage, and isn't a dowel from the engine either.

well i was re-assembling my bike today, and i came to putting the front sprocket cover on and i couldnt get the clutch to engage, the cable was pulling but nothing happening, i was stumped for ages, then i remembered that random bit i was left with.
turns out it fits into the sprocket cover to push the rod in to engage the clutch ( not sure what the "rod" is actually called)
Glad i didnt throw it out, i would have been damn stuck.
