NC24 and NC30 engines. What differences?
I have a a spare engine that I got with an NC30 recently, Originally I thought it was a 30 engine but noticed it had oil cooler take offs on the front above the sump. I think it may be an NC24 engine. How do I check, and what are the differences? I'm fairly sure it's been in a 30 as the guy I bought the bike from said he ran with that engine until the head cracked.

if it ran with the 30 igntion box then its probably a uk 30 engine.
would need the nc24 ignition box, coils and most of the loom for it to work otherwise.
what colour is the engine?

That's what I thought it was originally. I have an ignition box that doesn't work on my 30, and is much bigger than the 30 one, I also have a set of coils that look bigger than 30 ones too.Neosophist wrote:if it ran with the 30 igntion box then its probably a uk 30 engine.

The engine is dark grey.
Thing is the number begins with NC13 but the rest of the numbers don't tally up with NC30 numbers.
did NC24's use the NC13 numbers?

I'm gonna be a pain... If it does turn out to be an nc24 motor do you have the clutch rod for it and would you sell the rod?
Cheers,
Adam.

PUll a plug out and see whether it is an ER9EH - the 24s use bigger plugs...

I've seen an NC30 engine that had larger plug holes (probably cheaper plugs :D)CMSMJ1 wrote:PUll a plug out and see whether it is an ER9EH - the 24s use bigger plugs...
If its dark grey it sounds like a 30 engine.. but different ingition box and coils? Maybe there off something else totally?.. The NC24 engine uses 4 coils. And its ignition box is a black OKI unit with 2 plugs
All the VFR400 series bikes use the NC13E engine as there all the same engine'ish.
Whats the engine number.. i'll tell you if its a 24 engine.
Also pics would really help.
