When replacing plugs i push ashort piece of rubber tube over electrode end, with ashort piece of wood doweling in hose end.Locate in plug hole and turn in plug, any tight resistance would be taken up by the rubber hose so avoiding a crossed thread.Hope this is of help.

? I dont get?
rubber tube over the threaded end?

I've always thought screwing plug in by hand was best, then just nipping them up with a wrench / screwdriver with socket?
I use the 13mm socket with an extender bar for my NC30 as the heads are well recessed, also, if you can get tehm, or make one up, my ol' man use to use a socket with a rubber or foam insert to hold the lug strraight - makes lining it up easier.
