Hi guys, i am a new nc30 owner. i bought the bike and it came with a Honda speed booster, it fits behind the clocks with two wires. Can anyone tell me what it does, power wise and speed wise, what are the long term effects on the bike? On the paper it says 400GreyBike ultimate performance. Crap does not say what the littel bastard does. Thanks

It won't boost power, dude, it just overrides the Japanese speed restriction of 112mph. This means you've got the full fat version which'll do about 130mph (depending on who you're talking to).

Just to elaborate a little...

The bikes were limited in Japan to 112mph (180k)

The NC30 was also made (in smaller numbers) for the UK market, these bikes cost a lot more and there were subtle differences. One of which being the bike was not limited to 112mph, and instead was capable of 130+

The speed limiter fitted to the Japanese bikes is fairly primitive by todays standards, when the speedo needle reaches 180km (112mph) a metal disc behind the needle bridges a connection which sends a signal to the ECU to cut the sparks to the rear cylinders (I think!?) which slows the bike down.

It's not stupid ECU though, if you disconnect the wires the bike misfires above 5000rpm until you reconnect it, the little black box fools the ECU into thinking that the speedo restricter device is still connected up. However, it never comes into play so the bike isn't limited :)
