just wondering, has anyone had a double sided swingarm made for an nc30/35 ? I was thinking for along the lines of racing more so then street use. Maybe have it made to fit a 5.0 or 5.5 rear rim on for better rubber choice.... Maybe harris can biuld one. anyway just wondering if anyone has attempted this or not.

Can't remember the forum member, but the supposedly heavy nc30 swingarm weighed lass than an FZR400 swingarm.

There's great rubber available for the nc30/35 rim sizes, especially for racing.

In Oz most racers use a 165 slick (which fits on a standard 4.5" rim, slightly different profile) made for GP 250's, doesn't get much more fun than that!!

Theres no sane reason that you'd want to. because if you did it wouldnt be the case where you add anouther swingarm and job done, you'll have to replace your whole rear end (ie new swingarms, new position for shock, new axle and new wheel) with no advantages.

If you want a double swinger get anougher bike

there's plenty of sane reasons,

get a bigger rear wheel and tyre on
lighter modern swingarm made to work with the bike better
less rotating momentum as there is a much simpler lighter hub

is there no way a single sider off another bike could be made to fit? like a ducati or triumph

Hahaha, that's funny - on one hand you talk about sanity, then suggest trying to fit a single swinger from another manufacturer to a bike which has a single swinger to begin with! Why on gODs green earth would you want the hassle?

At the end of the day, the NC30 and 35 is designed to work best with a 150 wide tyre - spending countless amounts to make it wear a bigger tyre is a ludicrous idea. Humour me - why the fucking hell would you want to - please give me one good reason for making a 180 wide tyre fit an NC30? And please don't give me any of that rotating momentum bullshit either - very very few everyday riders as we are would ever notice the difference. That fella called Rossi perhaps, but you and I? C'mon!

firstly if were talking on the road then I agree there's not much to be gained from doing it but then why does anyone upgrade any part of th ebike if its just for the road? it'll only get you to your destination a couple of minutes quicker

and if reducing rotating weight is all bullshit why is it what every single race team spends a very large amount of their budget on? and why is there even a market for it? lightweight wheels, sprockets, carriers disks you name it pritty much any part that spins is engineered to be as light as possible by race teams, err and you dont have to be rossi to see lap times coming down or even just hear the engine spinning up quicker or accelerating quicker

and as for the larger wheel I was more thinking of getting a wheel that could fit a 160 section tyre correctly without distorting its profile which is what happens when you try and fit it on a standard width rim, although I do know of a very quick 400 racer who uses a 180 rear for his wet tyres as it givves him a lager contact patch and more rear grip in the wet. and no his name isnt rossi either

and with the different single sided siwngarm I was just meaning to say that adam didnt have to go to a double sided swingarm to upgrade it or have something different there are other options out there that could be tried as im sure a more modern ducati or triumph swingarm would be better designed than a 20 year old nc one

ok i stand corrected but before you consider doing this you should uprate the rear shock and overhaul the forks only then is there a point. But i think your better off just doing the 17" wheel conversion.

I agree. You can get 160 tyres that will fit 4.5" rims.

If you want a wider tyre a hrc 5" wheel would be cheaper than any conversion!
