blooming heck, lifted the air filter off & its a bit busy in there, can anyone give me a quick rundown on removing the carbs, many thanks.

Get you spinach and have a gulp.

then make sure you get the carb clips undone - you'll possibly not be able to see the one at the front right as the thermostat is in the way. You might be able to see it through the V from the left hand side. Undo the choke cable at the front of the carbs.

Get the carb bracket plate and heave like billyo. The fronts or the rears...take your pick. If you get them to pop off then take the throttle cables out on the left hand side. The unscrew or feed through the gaps the idel cable than hangs out on the left side too.

Look in Vipers valve clearance thread, he might have some carbs off piccies.

Getting them back is the reverse of the above..lol with a million times more effort and fighting/swearing/cursing and god damn frigging about..

My only advice is to take the idle adjuster out of its housing. I made that mistake once, and once only, those wee things are like rocking horse shit if you break it.Apart from that, just do as Mark says, 4 carb clips, choke cable and heave them off. I tend to remove the plate that hold the throttle cables in place rather than removing the cable as you'll not need to re-adjust them when you re-fit the carbs, oh and good luck.

I did my carbs last week. Taking them off was ok but putting them back on was a total bitch. I don't know if it's the right thing to do but I put some grease on the rubbers and they went on - eventually. Good luck, and check that they're going into the rubbers properly and not getting caught on them (like mine did).

New carb rubbers make a world of difference. RVF ones are much easier to use than vfr rubbers, make a switch to them if you buy new ones.

I've also used new chinese copy rubbers (ebay), they work fine, but unsure how they'll age.

I've also snapped/bent many an idle adjustor because I forgot to unhook it!
