Ducati front end fitting kits (NC30)

I have the materials to make up a fitting kit for fitting the complete ducati front end (as in forks/yokes/bars/braking system/wheel/discs/etc) and an looking into buying up the materials for a 2nd set. I also have a set of yokes and forks available too. My set up has now been thoroughly tested on road, Zak has been using his on track, and Smev has been using his set up both on road and track. I cannot emphasise how well the Ducati front end works on the Nc30 - the handling is so stable it is untrue, and the brake set up is phernominal. Of all the modifications on my own bike this has been by far the most beneficial the difference between my origonal late spec forks and brake set up (which were in good condition) and the ducati front is chalk and cheese. I have had good feed back from both Zak and Smev regaurding the performance of their front ends. The cost of the fitting kit would be £80 delivered, yokes £100 and forks will be pending final inspection (postage cost for forks/yokes at cost).

I think I would like first refusal. This would work good on either my track bike or road bike. Could you shoot me some pics please?

No problem vfrman, I'll have to sort out some pics for you.

I have now sourced a 2nd set of yokes and the materials for a 2nd fitting kit should anyone else like a Ducati front end - which every nc30 owner should! ;)

Ok, for me to consider this as an Option, Im going to need to ask some questions! (If you dont mind. )

The setup then, as In yokes Forks and Brakes, what Forks are they and what size are the Yokes? What year bike do they come from? Ducati Standard Yokes i presume? If thats the case i should be able to put Ohlins R&T Forks on them and also with that i should be able to fit Brembo Racing Calipers to these forks and figure out some way of making this work with the front wheel. Will it work with an NC30 standard front wheel size? Is the Ducati wheel any different in size?

With the fitting kit, is it simply the parts required to fit the ducati yokes and forks on the NC30?

Defienetly want to see some pictures so i can help my brain click into gear for this...

many thanks..

Hi Hamster,

The fitting kit allows the fitment of 748/749/916/996/998/999 yokes and therefore allows the fitment of any of these bikes forks (I also believe that Rsv/Falco/Tuono forks will also fit into these yokes although I have never tested that theory), I have 996 gold nitrate forks on my own bike as does Zak, Smev has 749 forks and Jason has 916 forks on his.
The front wheel is a Brembo item (or Light weight Marchesini [or however you spell it], dymag, etc), the standard discs are 320mm Brembo items (my bike is fitted with Galfer braking wave discs), the calipers are brembo goldline items or 4 pad brembo items on the 749/999. It would be possible to fit the Ohlins yokes and forks to the bike so long as the yokes/forks are matched - they are different yokes to the standard ducati models. The wide track front wheel again is specific to the wider yokes and will not fit the standard yokes, but you appear to be aware of this. The ducati front wheel is a 17" item, running a 120 section tyre (as the nc30 and just about every bike over 250cc), it would be possible to make the nc30 wheel fit with a custom spindle but I would recommend using a Ducati item for ease of fitment - I would rather spend the extra money on a light weight wheel myself.
The fitting kit essentially lengthens the depth of the nc30 yoke with the necessary bearing shells to suit the yokes.

I'll have to take some more photos specifically for this thread but here are a few pics I already have on the computer.

This shows how the length of the stem is increased.
Hope this answers some of your questions.

First set now machined and ready to go, available with top/bottom yokes/stem, and top nut if needed.

I have also had a few spacers machined up to replace the costly speedo drives.

The second set will be ready within a fortnight, again available with top/bottom/stem and top nut.

Forks should be available within a week - they are off being polished at the minute.

I am happy to post the fitting kits abroad but the forks and yokes would probably be too expensive to ship.
