hi all decided that the front end of my Nc30 is getting tired ( its pretty soft now).
I want to keep the RWU forks as i dont think USD's look right on a Nc30 (each to there own i suppose).

What options are out there and who has tested them ?
I will list a few kits that i have seen and hopefully people can rate there views on them.
I plan to replace all internal bushes & seals ect before fiting any of the below kits

Hagon progressive spring kit

Hyper pro spring kit

Are own Rick Olivers spring kit

RLR can rebuild/uprate my forks but its going to cost loads.

I see Gavin is selling uprated fork adjusters too

Ive also found Ohlin RWU forks but at 1750, but I rather spend the money on other things (rear shock is next).

As for my riding ability I do the odd track day and the roads i ride here in Northern Ireland are not known for being smooth, most are bretty bumpy to be honest. I guess i,m looking a good road setup.

Anyone any views or ideas ?

I fitted Ricks fork kit last year and it made a huge improvement over the old tired set up that was there. :D
And for the price you can't go wrong really. I haven't tested any of the other kits, but I guess they'd all be pretty similar if it's just spring/ spacers and oil replacement.

+1 on the rick oliver fork upgrade kit makes a noticable improvement :D

I have uprated front ends in both my nc30's.

Obviously it depends what condition yours is in, but my road bike front end has that springs was set up for the track and I find it too harsh for the road because of the bumps etc.

RO's kit has a good rep but firmer sprins arent necessarily going to suit all conditions you come across on the road perhaps.

Incidentally, I just swapped a good track front end for a standard setup on my roadbike because it can deal with bumpy road better than the firmer front end.

How long ago was your fork oil changed? It can make a decent difference to the performance of the forks.

i change the fork oil every year or 4000 kms what evercomes first. It due to be changed as my bike was sitting idle for a long while.

Why would you do that??? You don't loose fork oil unless they leak and at that point I'd be looking at pitting, seals, bushes etc. I don't remember what it was the PLR told Rhory about his forks, but these guys are NI's official Ohlins suppliers and they said not to go back to them with the forks for a long time.

Fit the Rick O kit and ride away, great kit if you ask me.

i change it as i usually give the front forks a check, and for all it costs why not stick some fresh stuff.

My new job is an official ohlins supplier too along with k-tech, suppose it should pick someones brains in work too.

Can't fault it, I really rate it. Who are you working for now? Do they supply Ohlins forks?

I work for PhilipMccallen motorcycles in lisburn now and yes i can supply ohlins, k teck and a few others too.

I want these forks myelf.





We have a dyno tooooo, my nc30 will be going on that as soon as the dyno room is finished. I will get the bike setup for the stack finally, Philip has some bits left over fron his racing days that he is giving me to stick on too, so fingers crossed i get some HRC goodies ( if he remembers to bring the box's in).

Nice one Karl, looks like things are looking up for you. I have a few things on the back-boiler and it will consist of some nice Ohlins trickery but that won't be until the end of the year.

Stick with Ricks kit mate, its one of the best upgrades I've done on my bike (after the Hyper-Pro that is) and it won't cost the earth.
