Hi,
You put a 1.5k ohm resistor between the green from the cdi and the frame so that the cdi thinks it is always in second, leave the end from the gear selector loose. If you want to check 100% you can put the bike in second gear and take the resistance from the green from the gear selector to ground as its a long time since i did mine but 99% sure it was 1.5k ohm.

arghhhh i hate my bike ...... i looked high and low but alas NO GREEN wire. bought the resistors searched for ages for the wire all so i could keep up going to brands on fri .. i seem to have 2 blocks of wires 4 in 1 and 2 in the other . i tried to check each one for a variable resistance whilst changing gear but drew a blank on that route .....anyone got any other ideas... symptoms are red lines in 5th when i change to 6th i cant get anymore revs than where it was when i changed gear ie 120mph@15000rpm in 5th and drops to 12500rpm in 6th but wont rev out holds speed ok

try following the cable from the switch (located near the front sprocket) up and back to the black box in the rear sub-frame. It must be there somewhere. Good luck!

Yep!
Remove the front spocket cover and there is a gear senor, small round black plastic plug with awhite top just in front of the sprocket. Follow the wires up to somwhere near the battry and ther are two wires one black that is a ground for when its in neutral and a green that usually has a yellow trace line. This goes direct to the cdi box and gives different res for the gears. Defo sounds like your hitting the 180kph restrictor, the motor will not give any more at this point. Can you post a close up pic of the cdi showing both plugs and the wires/colours.
Chris.
