How hot? (NC30)

Took my wife's NC30 out for a spin (still haven't got mine back yet after 5 weeks and I needed a fix) and I noticed it gets very hot before the fan kicks in almost or maybe just over 3/4's the way round the gauge, is this right?
The previous owner fitted a manual switch but it's been disconnected now as it would blow the fuse and it would no longer kick in by itself, and as my wife is a woman (obviously) she preferred the idea of the bike turning the fan on instead of her (worried she would forget). Don't know if this would make a difference?
Cheers peps
Matt

Yeah that's right, nothing to worry about. I can't remember the exact temp the fan cuts in at, but I think it's over 100C water temp.
These bikes get pretty damn hot, especially in traffic in hot weather. Once you start moving at a decent pace the water temp usually cools straight down.
Oh, good to hear that your wife is a woman!!

on the flip side of this, a NC30 with good clean rads would struggle to get over 90 in normal riding conditions in this time of year creeping to shy of halfway in traffic.
if you have just bought it, remove the lower rad and flush it out, and spend a few hours cleaning the mud from the fins (and i promise there will be plenty)
a good soak for a couple of days, then a small cable tie and push it all out while sorting the fins. dont be tempted to jetwash it incase you bend all the fins

fan cut in temp is roughly 98-102........i noticed a ,assive difference after cleaning the rads on my nc30,the temp at this time of year would barely rise above 90.

i deffo agree with the soaking and small stiff cable tie jobbie, but i would say dont discount the jetwash idea. my dad had a jetwasher that you can turn on to steam only wiyth barely any pressure, just piping hot steam, and it did a super job on mine, thought i had broke the thermostat for a while as the neddle was barely mooving.
