Imperial to Metric Shimming and Electrickery

First off is anyone able to help do an imperial to metric conversion for me? My brain doesnt do imperial however Ricks does and that causes some problems in the inlet shimming department.
To quote the Ricketh:
Imperial Clearance Spec for Inlet is .005" - .007" for inlets so aim for .005" - .006"
and its .008" - .011" for exhausts so aim for .009" - .010".
I have asked Rick but with now busy he seems to be at the moment its probably going to asked technical questions here.
Second,
For all those whom have completely stripped the NC30 of electric and have come to putting them back on with a couple issues I ask this of you - What ground connections must be in place for all the idiot lights on the clocks to function. I only currently have the Oil Pressure Light when you turn the key.
Its probably something stupid....
Thanks in Advance everyone :D
