apoplectic with rage i was after i rang the major yamaha parts supplier whose name starts with f and had a whole family in eastenders with the same name to get some bearings for hybrid2.£18 pound a side for swingarm bearings i could(just) about handle but the two small baerings that locate under the swingarm where the dog bones mount nearly made me collapse under the weight of my sheer rage- £17 A SIDE thats right £34 fuckin english pounds for two tiny bearings.being halfway thru my order i told the guy (it wasnt his fault he doesnt make the prices) that he could cancel my order as i wasnt paying £70 for 4 bearings.now i know you get what you pay for and im fussy about stuff like bearings but am i being unreasonable? 4 bearings for the price of a front tyre?.i went to a bearing supplier who supplied the 4 bearings i required for £25 quid less including postage and they are top quality jap bearings too.there i feel better now :)

Its the same with all the bike manufacturers, parts like bearings have a huge mark up on them and it is pointless paying Yamaha/Honda/Suzuki/etc prices when aftermarket companies can supply equal quality parts for a fraction of the price.

I priced up swing arm bearings for my GS650G Katana and they were £39 a side from Suzuki, and £5 each from a local engineering company. Fair enough the aftermarket bearings don't have the rubber sheild on them like the Suzuki ones do, but who cares if they need a little bit more maintenance keeping them greased up. I can go through 8 sets before its costing me money.
I got a full set of wheel bearings, headstock bearings and fork seals for just under £40 delivered off ebay, i didn't even bother pricing genuine parts.

I just got a full set of OEM Yamaha bearings for my hybrid. Wheels, swingarm, link system, headstock, ect, ect. Set me back €220. Oh well, i knew it would be expensive but i'm very anal when it comes to this stuff. :)

We all know that adding the word "motorcycle" to the start of a product name instantly multiplies the price by four or more. Here's what you do:

1. Measure the bearing you have or wish to replace - outer diameter, inner diameter, width, whether it has seals or is open or anything else important.
2. Ring an industrial bearing supplier and ask for the same thing.
3. Wait while they consult their huge catalogue and give you a quote several times cheaper than the OEM part.
4. Laugh uproariously as you save a whopping percentage off the dealer's quoted price.

Many of the bearings have a number stamped on them, and if you can see the manufacturer, just quote all those details and they may have an identical bearing or can look up the equivalent from another manufacturer.

to do my cbr600 rear wheel bearings it cost me £25 with postage.. This was for all three.

Do you also do engine part? Gaskets, bearings, seals etc? I'll keep it in mind!

bearings are a common thing in most cases as mentioned

take the old one out , go to bearing guy and say 1 of these please

a mate had an aprillia pegaso that needed some rear wheel bearings , sprocket hub bearing and a couple of seals

looked on the net found the part numbers and he had the lot next day for about $50

he decided to ring the dealer out of curiosity

1 of the bearings he bought for $8 the dealer quoted $80 , the lot was near $500 at the dealer
