Are GSXR's restricted like the NC's ? ( Top end restriction not 33hp )

If yes is there a mod to remove ?

Many thanks.

if it is a jap import then ot may be restricted, because of japanese laws it will more than likely be the 180kph speed restriction

if it is a uk model and i don't know if the gsxr was ever brought in for the uk market but if so then these will not be restricted at all, definately not the speed restriction anyway

if it is restricted, there are a few ways of by-passing this, the easiest would be to buy a kph-mph converter, this works because the speedo will never reach 180mph so the restriction never kicks in...it's a switch in the speedo or behind the speedo that causes the speed restriction to work

another option is tampering with the switch itself behind the clocks or you can also fit a resistor mod

lastly yo ucan purchase a de-restrictor cdi unit

i do not have a gsxr so i do not know how accurate this all is but im pretty sure it is

is your's definately restricted?have you had it out on the road and it starts to misfire @ 180kph?

It's restricted via the CDI. It looks at the gear selected (via a switch on the gearbox) and the RPM of the engine. There are two ways to de-restrict, one being fooling the CDI into thinking it's only in the first 3 gears, the other involves getting a de-restricted CDI (there are some available on flea bay)

Cheers
