NC35 - rear axle restoration?

Hey Guys.
I'm (lightly) restoring an NC35. I stripped the rear shock suspension linkage and (no surprise perhaps), I do not believe anyone had greased the bearings over the life of the bike.
So now I am considering stripping the rear axle assembly to grease that as well. I see the lock nut (on left of rear) needs replacing if removed but it is unobtainable (Honda part 90306KV3950). Rear wheel turns very smoothly.
If I cannot source a new lock nut, I'm thinking I have no option but to leave axle as-is.
Any advice is appreciated.
