Ridiculously tight pinch bolts? NC24

Hey there
I'm kinda new to bikes so any help is appreciated :D
Before i bought the bike it had been sitting a while, so naturally when i started riding the chain has loosened up...(rather a lot i might add
)
So, I'm out there with a spanner and watnot trying to adjust the chain tension, but the bloody pinch bolts are stuck solid!
Will I need a paddock stand or something to take the weight off the rear wheel before I do it or will i just need to borrow a nice big wrench from somewhere??
Any help is appreciated :D
This is the first time I've done this on a single sided swingarm, tis kinda confusing!
(also, any help for what to do AFTER I've loosened the pinch bolts would be helpful, I'm guessing I just loosen the spindle bolt and slide it back??
)
Thanks!
