So the local mechanic guy cut this hose that in on my NC23 carb, but all previous carbs I have had for this model have ad this pipe un-cut.
He said it was a breather pipe and should be like it is in the picture... but, I don't think he's right, as I'm sure Honda would have built it like that if that were the case.

should I get a male/male adapter to join them back together or is he right?
Why would someone cut this without checking?
Why do these carbs look like they haven't been in an ultrasonic bath?
All very good questions...

I'd want it to be as standard as possible - Are they not the fuel overflow pipes?

No he's not right but its not the end of the world.

Why would someone cut this without checking?
If they thought it was clogged its easier than removing the carbs

Why do these carbs look like they haven't been in an ultrasonic bath?
Because they haven't..

You have discovered a lazy mechanic who isn't familiar / competant with older bikes

= Time to find another mechanic.

And the winner is Suzuki416.

I Don't think the mechanic you used was very good nor was he being honest about doing an ultrasonic clean properly. He may have put them in but didn't use the correct solution and did he take them apart to clean them
