NC30 Total Loss Ignition

Having read the various pros and cons of this Itype of ignition have decided one outweighs the other and wish to press on with moving the racebike to total loss - question is how do you go about this what is required ???

Help please theres lots of dicussion about this but no specific how to or even a clue about doing the conversion - does anyonehere know ?

How total do you want your loss to be?

Are you going to bump start the bike?

The very simplest way is to remove the reg/rec. This will not have the full effect but will have some.

The next stage is then to remove the generator coils (requires removing the flywheel and helps if you have a flywheel puller).

If you are happy to bump start the bike then you can also remove the starter (requires a plug to keep oil in) and the wiring/solenoid.

i run total loss on my 35 and it makes a massive difference, it does save a lot of weight which is the nc30/35's downfall. Only thing id suggest though is buy an optimate to keep it the battery in good condition, and buy a spare battery just in case

i also have found it easy to bump start the nc30

rick oliver supplies batterys specifically for race bikes running total loss.....i believe they last a lot longer before needing re-charged!!!!!!!

if i was removing the reg rec i would be inclined to remove the alternator as well........

Oh I agree except that it's the work of a moment to remove the reg/rec and a lot more grief to remove the alternator.

I'd see if you can live with the grief of total-loss first, then remove the alternator.

how many people actually run total loss on their road bike??????

i myself don't but went through a spell where my reg rec was gubbed and it was not too bad..........every few days i gave the battery a wee charge.

but dark nights and working late caused problems..........

I have rotor pullers in stock and also starter blanking plugs if you`re going the whole hog...
