Hi, I made a right mess of a spark plug change today, disaster, I over-tightened a plug and the threads are gone in the hole!
Is there anything I can do with this??
Any help appreciated

OOPS.
Bit of a nightmare that - you can possibly helicoil the head and get it sorted that way - bit of a mission though and would likely involve having the the heads off.
It can be done...so all is not lost.

Hi
I have a similar problem with my clutch plate cover. I have been advised to use a helicoil set. They are quite cheap around £12.00 on ebay.
I do not know if this would be suitable for spark plugs, you may need to check it with a mechanic or someone on this site.
Hope this helps a little.

if you have to take the heads off i would consider replacing them, helicoiling would work but a secondhand head would be better option, is it triarm or gullarm?

Its a tri arm modle. Would replacing the head be costly do you reckon?

It seems the plug has actually sheered, and the threaded bit is still in the engine...
Anyone ever get this before?

seen it on a m8's aprilia rs, obv easier to get the head off one of them,
but get the head off soon as, make sure no shit gets dropped down into the piston
then with the head off heat it up to quite a high temp and then try some form of removing tool.

No need to pull the head off.
Use and easyout to screw the sheared off section out of the head, they are pretty cheap.
