Right checked my valve clearences and before i start re shimming can anyone tell me am i aiming to roughly match all the inlets and all the outlets?
Ive also heard that its best to be on the loose side rather than tight, is this correct?
heres a pics of my valve clearences,

It will be useful for you to know what the shim sizes are to go with the clearances so that you can figure out a few easy swaps.
If there are any that are on the looser side then I would leave them as is.
0.15 to 0.16 for inlets
0.24 to 0.25 for exhausts
Your clearances look alright -
1, 3 and 4 exhausts need looking at (all of them)
Inlets are all good apart from no2 (both of them)
I would be checking the shim sizes in your ones that need changing and go from there.

Do you have an NC30 or 35? The numbers you quoted are different to Vipers guide CMSMJ1.

I have a 30.
the numbers I quoted are in the middle of the ranges
0.12 - 0.18 - so middle of these 0.15 0.16
0.21 - 0.27 - middle of these - 0.24 0.25
Hope that makes more sense!

Ah I see, I thought maybe Drunkn had a 35 and that the 35 clearances were different.

I think he does have a 35 and no, the clearances are the same.
Am sure he is trying to find the shim in the sump by now....we all do it!

I'm just floating around all the pervious valve clearance threads as I'm starting mine tonight
Got my bit of 'Viper Prepared' paper printed and ready as per the one above

It is easy man..depends how big your hands are exactly how easy it is!!
worth getting the rear done first as it is easier to get in and get your practice. the fronts are buggers to get to.
For me...I am taking the front cylinder head off tonight and cleaning the replacement up..so I am in the same boat. I am going to take the forks off to do it though!! Ballache...
Need some valve lapping juice before I get cray on it though! JOY

I have just started mine this evening, I'm not sure if I have really got the hang of the feel guage yet tho. I have done cylinders 1 and 3, these are my results:
Cylinder 1:
Intake: 0.11 and 0.11
Exit: 0.22 and 0.25
Cylinder 3:
Intake: 0.12 and 0.12
Exit: 0.24 and 0.24
I'll be doing the front 2 cylinders at the weekend. Is it normal for some of my tolerances to be slightly low?
