NC30 FR Wheel Bearings

Hi Everyone,
I’m new to the forum and restoring my little NC30 at the moment. I’ve had a bit of trouble with the front wheel bearings...
The Haynes manual suggests to knock in the left sode front wheel bearing first until it seats properly... problem is when I do this and drop in my 90mm inner spacer, the spacer sits above he RHS bearing seat... so when I knock in the other bearing it lands against the inner tube before it can seat on its lip.
Im starting to think maybe my inner tube is too long? Its 90mm as I say which I have heard is correct.
Does this sound correct to you guys? So the inner spacer tube is really tight between the two bearings? Cheers!

You sure on the bearings you've fitted?

The tube came out..... or was it loose?

Hi, thanks for the reply!
Yeah I'm sure I have the right bearings as this is my second set (different company also) and exactly the same thing happened. I've even tried the ones that were originally fitted and the same happens.

The tube is in there and its snug against the two bearings and very difficult to shift sideways... but my dust seal on the last side I fit sticks out ever so slightly so I think the distance between the two bearing seats is less than the tube length if that makes sense... therefore when the second bearing is knocked in it sits on the tube, not the seat.

Could be knackered bearing seats, although I cant see how that would happen(unless some heavy fisted gorilla smashed the bearings down before!!)..did the wheel/bearings look ok/seat well before you stripped it??

Great suggestions thanks mate. Its definitely the correct wheel. I’ll take a closer look at the bearing seat and get back to you. I don't suppose anybody has pictures or measurements of the bearing recess on each side?

They were real tight to get out when I stripped it. I struggled to shift the spacer enough to get a purchase on the inner race.

The spacer can be tight/not move much when trying to get drift on bearing...is there any ovaling of the bearing surface?..if you %100 have the right bearings to go in then it should seat properly...
