New Bike, wrong tire sizes?

Team

Just purchased an 89 NC30, and while working on brakes and suspension I noticed that the tire sizes appear to be wrong. The Haynes manual says 120/60 front and 150/60 rear, however the bike has 110/60 front and 140/60 rear. I checked the forum and found articles saying there is a debate over the rear tire size 140 over 150 etc.

I wouldn't be so bothered but they are new tires put on by the previous owner.
I rode the bike and it seemed a bit skittish, but they may be because I'm used to riding a 1000cc. Plus the suspension colapes under me and needs springs front and rear.

Interested in your thoughts on putting the documented tire sizes on?

Thanks and regards,
Tony

I would think that the 110 and 140 combination would be too small for the rims and probably result in some twitchyness. Quite a few people use a 160/60 on the rear but I'm not aware of anyone using a 140.

Am replacing the front with a 120/60 and will leave the rear for the time being.

Rim size should be on the wheels somewhere. It should be the guide for tyre size.
