Any idea why the handle bars are different weights ? The left is a fair bit heavier that the right.

Ok I'll just keep chatting to myself here lol. If the left being heavier than the right compensates for anything I won't benefit from it anyway as all three right side bars are bent on the bikes I have. So two left's with a hole for the throttle locater drilled will have to do for now. A set of turned ali bars will replace them in the near future.

Small update from the weekend:
Got the front rim sprayed and decided to clean up the front discs.
Used paint stripper to get the old black paint off. Quick sand and masked off ready for Satin black paint.
Got new wheel bearings and installed them too.

I couldn't understand why I had to fight with the top triple clamp to install it and the axle was also near impossible to get through the forks!
After a good think it occurred to me that something may be bent. I did find one bent fork tube in the set of forks that came off this particular bike.
A few measurements and a really good look at them I realised that the right hand side of the bottom triple clamp is twisted down and backwards!!
Thought it was odd that the front tyre had more wear on one side......must have been an interesting ride for the previous owner.

Thanks CB1pod70. I will be using a lightly scrubbed BT090 150 rear that I had in my stash and a new 120 front for the first event.
Would have preferred the Pirelli's but it came down to cost and the serious lack of budget this month.

Small update again. I turned some new ali wheel spacers, every gram helps lol.

Also found some factory brake pads in one set of calipers, that bike had just over 20k kilometers on the clock!!!

Also had problems with wheel alignment, couldn't get equal gaps between the forks and front wheel.
Eventually figured out that the axle is bent, by chance I rotated it and immediately saw the gaps changing with the wheel moving sideways.
So this bike had a bent fork stanchion, bent lower triple clamp and now the axle/spindle!

Very interesting! As I said earlier, I was a bit confused as to why there was tyre wear on only one side of the front.
Initially thought the guy just preferred right hand corners lol.
Changed out the spindle for another one and voila, equal gaps!

I am now concerned about frame straightness......only used that chassis because it was the cleanest and had hardly any scratches ;)
Must have been a decent shunt to bend all that.....

Got a bit done over the weekend.

Finally got the 17inch rear and bought a new BT090 as the date code on the scrubbed one I had indicated it was approaching 6 years old!

Decided to get a set of aluminium bars turned end of last week
