the issue whereby you need 100bhp+ to go 150 will be the clincher..

A 17 toothe front and 35 tooth rear might get you there, but it'll take you about 3 weeks.

It takes long enough for my 750 to reach 160.

That's indicated too with a claimed extra 49BHP, no way the 400 will do 160 unless you're working in Km/h!

Personally I think the most fun you'll ever have on a VFR is between 50 - 75 mph on a twisty racetrack. These bikes are very nimble and flickable and forgiving (to an extent!)

Sure 160mph might be exhilerating for a few seconds in a straight line, but who wants to go straight all the while?

The 400 is at home and behaves fantastic on a track... do a couple of track-days, you'll soon loose interest in stupidly high top speeds when you realise it's not too dificult to outdrive a 160mph capable bike around a bend :D

Have to say I agree 100% with this. Did a few track days this year for the 1st time on the RVF and had the best time ever. Its a real buzz overtaking blades/ R1's through the bends. Anyone can open it up and go fast in a striaght line. In the corners is where the real fun/ skill is. Seen a lot of so called experienced riders on big bikes going really fast on the striaght and then wobbling around the hairpin like a novice. I don't see the point. Think people in general just buy the biggest most powerfull bike they can afford. Without learning to drive a smaller bike properly first. And then building up from there. You should definitly get on a track at some point, esp on the 400. I'm totally addicted now and even toying with idea of racing a 400 next year.

Calm down boys i only wanted to know if the nc was capable of hitting 160 i love small bikes for example i have a nsr250 mc18 sp and a supermono nsr250 and others track days a big yes it's been a while since i smelt a scorching knee pad i to love whooping all thoses big fat germans on their blades r1's gsxr's ect ect over here in france.

Just calmed down there now went on a bit of a rant there alright.
