Hi all,
I finally got round to uploading some photos today so thought I'd show you all the progress so far. Basically i bought the bike about 6 weeks ago, ebay job, as a Cat D right off non-runner. My plan for the bike is to use it as a spare road bike / winter commuter, but mainly for track days. If i cant afford track days i still want to be able to have some fun on it!

Started with stripping it down, and i was surprised to find what appears to be a fairly well looked after, clean bike underneath.


The accident made a mess of the plastics, and engine casings, and also the flywheel.




The bike came with a spare engine, which i later found out was actually an Aero engine . Nevertheless i managed to knick the engine casings and got spraying!

I've also sprayed the sprocker cover, stripped and sprayed the starter, and sprayed the water pump casing and thermostat!




After much frustration i finally managed to get the flywheel off, which by the way is an M16 x 1.5 thread for reference. I am now awaiting the replacement so i can get the casing back on. I'm keen to get it all sealed back up and get some oil splashing around! At the weekend i got the oil cooler on, as well as the oil pick up, the sump, a new oil filter and the other casings. Here's how she stands now.




In case anyones's wondering, the reason for silver is that i plan to do the red and silver Fortuna Race Rep eventually. I also plan to make the fairings myself so i'll keep you all posted on that too. I should be able to get back out in the garage this week so more posts to follow shortly.

Hi all,
It's been a while due to this freezing bloody weather but I've now made some more progress on the bike so thought I'd post an update - i need central heating in my garage!!!

I have now filled the engine with oil and have had it turning over, and I'm pleased to say its holding oil pressure so far. Next on the engine is a compression test and valve clearances. Here's ow the bike stands at the moment:







For the last week or so I've been battling with one of the blanking bolts in the inlets used for carb balancing, the two ourside ones came out no problem, but the inside two are at a really awkward angle and were already rounded off. In the end i had to drill them out and use an easy out, but it really wasn't that easy!!!

I've now replaced them with stainless bolts so shouldn't have the problem again. I've also stripped the forks now, and am awaiting new oil seals to get them back together. The swing arm was damaged from the accident, i managed to pick up a replacement on fleebay, so the new one along with the fork bottoms is off for powder coating tomorrow morning.

Whilst I'm waiting I've sprayed the bottom yoke, and am currently polishing the top yoke, results will be posted as soon as i can get some decent photos!

I cant warrant the expense of a stainless exhaust system at the moment so I decided to tart up the original, i was actually quite pleased with the results. Once the forks are back on and the bikes on the stands, it can go back on with the new gaskets and I'll be one step closer to having her running!! Cant wait!!

I've also decided to stick with the 110 jets that are currently fitted, so the carbs are also going back together with stainless bolts, pics to follow.

Thats about it for now, i should get some more done over the weekend so i'll get some more pics then.
