My NC30 came to me as a race bike. It ran well when I got it but I have had a succession of issues with it mainly centring on the carbs.

They have now been fully stripped, kits fitted, ultrasonic cleaned and so forth. It still is not running right so one of the options is to put it back to stock.

I am doing that presently and I have sourced new fuel tank rubbers (previously the tank was just sat on the frame metal to metal and clunked around. My thought was that if the tank is on the frame rails the still air pocket behind the steering head might be restricted somehow.

I have never had the rubber block at the front where the little tag sticks out the front of the tank.

My question (now that I have one) how does that attach either to the frame or the tank or both? I am very confused because it does not seem to want to sit right. The side blocks and rear are OK.

Like I say, silly question.

The front block sits inside the tank recess and then it fits into the notch at the front of the frame. My own tank ended up moving around and cutting small notches in the frame so i had to wrap the frame in gaffer tape then put adhesive foam strips to keep the tank in place.
This is with tyga fairings.

With all the oem buffer blocks and mount rubbers fitted the tank should not move around and is isolated from the frame.

LOL after looking at the tank and the wee mounting "T" thing and the rubber block I had bought for about an hour during the week, I wandered out to the shed today and realised that the bloody rubber block goes between the T part protruding from the tank and the body of the tank. In the immortal word of Homer Simpson "Doh". All's well that ends well and the tank is now snug and tidy.

Now if it only ran right.

Took these for you... Pretty sure this is right!
I normally place the pad on the frame then slide the tank in. But its recently seated nicely in the tank so its probably easier to do that then slide the tank and pad onto the frame notch.
