All,

As part of the removal from storage, I'm working my way through the Haynes 8,000 miles service.
On inspecting the front plugs I found a very wet one (back two were ok, and one of the fronts wasn't AS bad).
I took a vid of the well to see if there was anything obvious and found that the well for this plug also had a drop or five of wet-looking blackness.
Bike has not been run in circa 4 years, but after replacing all the plugs and fitting a new battery did start up and ran cleanly.

I've done some Googling and some threads say this could be a damaged gasket or valve guide? Is this that serious?
Another forum suggested this needs fixing immediately as it poses a fire hazard?

I'm a little concerned, but need to get the bike right before its ridden for the first time, any advice is much appreciated!

28 years old/ 26,000miles
Stored for 4 years in a barn
Ran clean beforehand - serviced 6 months before storage, plugs were OK

Clean it up, run it again and see if it leaks.

Could be the rocker cover gasket seeping.

sounds like cambox gasket.

My own valve covers have been leaking for a little while and when changing the spark plugs i noticed a bit of oil and residue down the wells, as said before the valve cover gasket.
It's not a serious issue unless you're losing more then a couple drops of oil, i'm going to be replacing mine soon as it's leaking more and more and collecting on the swingarm..

After some persuasion she started!

A little rough to start but fine once warm. Bogs down at 1500rpm if throttle is turned sharply but otherwise runs smooth through the range and exhaust is clean.

I'll get the gaskets replaced down the line all being well.

More fun to keep me busy!!
