Hi all
So I've got a set of GF Race Cams for my NC29...I don't suppose people here have already done this (of course you guys have...

)?
Does anyone have a step by step I could use to do this myself...first timer in the engine...
Cheers
KC

if you are taking the cam cover off you may want to fit the cams then check valve clearances before running the motor.
This is going to be lumpy if its a road bike.

Where did the cams come from?
The main difference between a race cam and a stock cam (apart from the obvious lift and duration change) is they allow the cam to be dialed in, what this means is the valve opening and closing can be altered in relation to the piston in degrees
EG: you can open the valve a few degrees earlier or later allowing you to fine tune the engine to the rest of the set up.
My point is and I hope I haven't bored you up to this point if the cams are new chances are they haven't been dialed in yet so your timing could be all over the show and your not going to get the full benifit of the cam upgrade, if there used chances are they have been dialed in already so if you can find out from the previous owner what they were set at it would help you out a lot but bare in mind a properly dialed in cam for your bike/set up EG: exhaust system, inet trumpet length etc can be worth about 2hp through the whole RPM range.
And lastly if they have been dialed in, depending what there set to the timing marks will probably not line up correctly as when the cams are dialed in what you are doing is rotating the cam independently of the cam sprocket so the cams might look like there not lined up properly,
If your unsure just ask and we'll try and guide you through it as best we can or failing that give Graeme a call he's a very helpful and incredibly knowledgeable bloke

Thanks everyone -especially sa.racing
The Cams are from GF...I have the GF race exhaust to go on and a Pipewerx end can. Ignitech ignition with HRC mapping and a set of stage 1 jets (all from GF). Carbs have been fully refurbed with the shorter central trumpets added.
That's all the engine mods i've got listed...I'm expecting take the bike to Hammer and Tongs performance in Warrington after everything is fitted for some time on the dyno...
What I'm (cowardly like...

) worried about is the cam fitting and getting the measurements correct for ordering new shims from GF (I take it this is what people are on about with regards valve clearances?) as this is my first build...
Cheers

What difference did the race cams make?
