Really starting to get annoyed with my bike now wouldnt start a while back so took it to my local honda who told me it was the cdi. I got a CCI they fitted it then told me that it wasnt down to that it was the connector on the kill swithch. Had it back a month or two and it wont start again, I cleaned the connector they had problems with before still nothing. Took a plug out and it is sparking which it wasnt doing before when the kill switch connector was faulty. Has anyone got any ideas what I should check next ? or what could be wrong

in order to fire you need fuel and air compressed, with a spark. did you check what colour the electrode on the plug was? was it wet with fuel when you pulled it out?

is the engine turning over?
if there is a spark then it could be fuel related.....is there fuel getting to the carbs?
take the plugs out and inspect them..what condition are they in?
also check the electrode gap?

right stripped it all down today to find that the fuel pump isnt pumping. Checked that there is voltage to it which there was so im now on a search for a new fuel pump honda have stopped selling these so could be hard work getting hold of one. Could I use a different pump ?

im sure graeme france would be able to supply you a fuel pump and if not then point you in the right direction......

ahh yes... same problem i had end of last year! our pumps have points (old cars) and they wear out over time. sadly they cant be repaired or replaced in the pump.
i managed to get a 2nd hand pump off ebay. when the shop fitted it they said that it new (2nd hand) pumps points weren't that much better.
they did say that most pumps off similar bike will work so long as the pipe in/out lets are on the same side as OEM pump. with the intermittent starting issue i have, the shop reminded me about the fuel pump, they did say there was a car pump that would also work. its low volume made by a well known company which i have forgotten! that are commonly used in old classic cars.
cant ask shop till monday now.

facet fuel pumps. just rang shop and asked...
he said ask for the most basic/cheapest pump. it will be more than enough for the job....

Another thing to try is to check the fuel pump relay . Its a simple test to check it out and if you have a manual its layed out in there.
Have you had the shims checked to see if they are a bit tight and not set correctly.
Its worth while checking the battery issue as mentioned above as well as a small amount of voltage drop off can make it a cow to start , its happened to me before.
