Brake performance - pad recommendation

My NC30 is great in so many ways but I've always been a bit disappointed by its front brake performance
I have braided lines on the front (HEL now, Goodridge previously), new master cylinder kit (plunger, pistons, spring, etc), immaculately cleaned calipers with new seals, and a bled system with a firm feel.
Two fingers (!) usually gives me what I need on the road but the feel is always a bit wooden and it needs a hefty pull to get it to drop anchor quickly
The only thing left is the pads
Any recommendations overall (I'd like to keep things stock) and for pads?

Well by the sounds of things you've done the most you can for stock - next step up would be bigger calipers and master cylinder?

Ideally I'd like to keep things stock if possible
Not sure what the pads are - I last changed them about 2005 - the bike's been off the road since 2006 and I just started riding it this summer
Pic here

The pads could be organic and you could try high friction metallic. There are a Honda pads that fit the description if you are looking for OEM.

SBS pads transformed the braking capability on my '30, they don't last ages but work like nothing I've had before.. Highly recommended.

I think they're the
Road /Racing ones not the Street Excel variants. Not sure if you've tried Bendix pads but a friend of mine used to have a 900 'blade and I thought they were excellent in that bike. They were very much like the SBS but never had them in the NC30 but that may well another option too. I've kinda given up on EBC pads altogether.
I'm going to put some SBS in my FJ when the time comes too!
