Hub nut is normal , make sure you've bent the nut back out where it had been staked over

Quite right, and it will be hugely tight, so much so that my rear brake, bike in gear, laying my weight on tail, front wheel against a wall, will still have the wheel slipping with a breaker bar. Air gun at the local tyre depot on the other hand, 2 seconds. I've since bought a 24V battery impact wrench, does all the fixtures on rotating shafts (Genny bolt, Clutch nut, loads of stuff on the van and of course wheel nuts) and has been a great investment. I don't use it for re-torquing though, I'm 'old-school' like that.

Regards,

Dave.

Thanks guys
Have now removed hub and replaced bearings, wheel now turns more smoothly and freely without force needed.
Felt like brake was being applied slightly before.
Cheers

Hi Pete,

Realise this is old thread but do you have any pointers in removing the bearings from the rear hub. Heard they are a nightmare to remove.

Cheers
