Fork Stanchion Rust

G'day Guys,

I have taken the forks off my NC35 so that I can take them to be rebuilt but I noticed that at the bottom-inside of the stanchions there is some rust present.

The rust seems to be raised but it hasn't caused my fork seals to leak yet.
I'm just curious as to whether i should be worried about it? Is there any easy way to remove it, without replacing stanchions or needing expensive work to be done?

I'm hoping that the rust is low enough on the stanchion to not cause an issue?

Also, I have some white oxidation on the fork legs, is there an easy way to remove this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You can dress out small bits of rust with a fine oil stone but that looks a bit far gone for that treatment. It will pass an MOT if the rust doesn't pass the seals, yours looks like it's just touching the dust seal going by the rubber band on it. It might be worth re chroming them.

I got the de-rusting fluid out and applied with an old toothbrush. They definitely look much better:
