2 quick questions

Friends,
I'm too lazy to search the forum so want to ask.
1. I have a replacement chain but it's already joined (riveted) - can this be fitted without un-riveting or swingarm removal?
2. My bike is gettinh quite hot the gauge goes right under the red line. There are clouds of steam coming out from the wate 'bottle' under the seat. Is this because the system is overfilled? I have replaced the coolant recently and might have put in too much.
I'll appreciate your comments.

LOL- short and sweet
1> don't bother, just get a new chain..
2> make sure the air is bled from the system. Should not get clouds of steam from the coolant bottle at all

Thats what baffles me you know.
It takes more effort to type the question than a search string. Oh well life's mysteries

You can't technically over-fill the coolant. The rad should be filled to the top and the expansion bottle to the max line.
Steam means its boiling and if it's getting that hot you may damage the bike.
You say you replaced the coolant, did you bleed air from the system afterwards?

HI,
I think I need to bleed it properly. I hope Haynes explains how to.
I thought it would push the air out through the open rad with engine running...

You need to burp it a bit really. give the hoses a squeeze and get the bubbles out of it.
